Our Story

How we got engaged

It was about Thursday evening, I got a call from my mom on my way into my dreaded international accounting class. She asked how my work schedule looked the following day and I told her I had all day open and wondered why she asked. Then she told me that my dad was setting up a lunch interview for me with one of his prior co-workers. I got very excited as I had been searching for a new job related to my field of study for a couple of months now, so I called my daddy all excited and asked him more about it. Dad and Mom obviously weren't on the same page because my dad didn't know what she was talking about. Suddenly something didn't make sense to me and I got this feeling that some sort of surprise was being planned. Of course five minutes later dad is calling me explaining that he wanted to surprise me and didn't want Mom to have said anything. So I began worrying a bit. Generally I would prepare days prior to an interview but this short notice had given me no time. Dad made sure to tell me "Don't even stress about anything. He's going to do most of the talking anyways" (& so he did).Friday morning comes and I'm sure to wake up with plenty of time to dress to impress. I took extra time getting ready and threw on my best suit. I needed to get this "job" and "close the deal". As I'm headed out the door Mom happens "This is going to be the best day of your life". I smartly remarked, "That'll be my wedding day and I'm sure that day is not today". She replied, "Well today you will start achieving your dreams". I still thought to my self that something seemed a little weird but nevertheless was on my way to Atlanta.

Meanwhile, Andrew Swayne Brown was "pressure washing" or so I thought. He had told me about the job earlier that week and had even called me earlier to tell me that he was already working and had several hours left. I even spoke with him on my way down to Atlanta. The guy was so clever, it even sounded like he was outside working.

I finally arrive at my Dad's work. He gets in my car and shows me where to park. I was scheduled to have a lunch interview at Rays in the City. Nervousness started to set in at this point and I kept rambling on with Dad about what should I say. I even asked for some good interview questions which would make it sound as if I had actually taken time to research this company. Dad kept saying, "He's going to do most of the talking. Don't stress out. You have nothing to worry about." Upon entering the restaurant, I was shown to the table and Dad said as soon as the interviewer got there, he would be on his way. He just wanted to introduce us. While waiting, Dad gets a call and began speaking in his "business voice". After the call, I had a few minutes so I went straight to the bathroom.

While walking back to the table I peer into the room to see if I could get a quick look at this interviewer. To my surprise there sat ANDREW BROWN with a bouquet of red roses and Dad had disappeared (only really he was to the side shooting pictures). So now I know something is definitely up. I enter the room and Andrew gets up from the chair walks towards me. I can feel my heart racing because I know something big is about to happen. The entire room filled with people went silent. "AHHH i thought to myself, could this be IT?". Andrew looked so handsome and simply began talking of the sweetest things of our relationship. I was in shock and and just smiled and kept smiling and listening and awwing and repeating all those reactions over and over. He was giving my such a great speech and I really wish I could remember it, but my mind just froze and I got lost in the moment.

SUDDENLY, ANDREW SWAYNE BROWN gets down on one knew with quite the audience. I smile even bigger if possible. "Will you marry me?" I gave him a loud YES and thought my cheeks are about to fall off or something because the smiles just kept coming. Out came the most dazzling ring I ever imagined. It was absolutely perfect. I was so glad to put it on my finger and have a FIANCE! The silence in the room turned into a grand applause. I still couldn't believe it but was overjoyed. What a great lunch interview I thought , I closed the deal, and I was beginning to achieve all my dreams:)
